Different Types of Cabins

Pre-Assembled Outdoor Cabins
These saunas are built in the factory by professional sauna builders, ensuring that everything is done correctly with construction, and are delivered as a complete unit. Pre-assembled saunas are also fully insulated, so all of that heat stays inside the cabin, even in colder climates.

Pre-assembled saunas are generally much more heavy duty and feel more like a “building” than a DIY kit, that is because of their weight and general construction. These saunas have different layers in the walls like, interior cladding, vapor barrier, insulation, and exterior cladding.

Why choose pre-assembled:

  • You want premium fit/finish and factory consistency.
  • You’re in a colder climate where a fully insulated sauna shines.
  • You prefer a turnkey experience with minimal on-site work.

DIY Sauna Cabin Kits
DIY Kits are built on-site, but there's no need to worry; they come with instructions to guide the way, and also make placing the cabin a bit easier since no crane or forklift is usually needed! Most saunas are DIY kits since they are easier/more cost efficient to ship and also less expensive in general.

Most DIY sauna kits are not insulated in order to simplify construction and reduce overall cost. In many cases, especially in warmer climates, full insulation isn’t necessary. However, some premium kits come with pre-fabricated, fully insulated wall elements, such as the Auroom Mira S and L.

Our Loyly Original takes a thoughtful middle-ground approach: it features solid, thermally modified wood walls with PIR FinFoam insulation in the ceiling, exactly where heat loss is most critical. This hybrid design balances thermal performance and visual appeal, making it a great fit for most indoor or covered outdoor installations.

Why choose a DIY kit:

  • You like hands-on projects and want the best value.
  • Your site is tricky for large deliveries, as it cannot facilitate a crane or a forklift.
  • You are placing it on a deck or something that cannot handle the massive weight of a fully insulated sauna.

Electric or Wood-Fired Sauna Cabins
All of the cabins we offer are made for electric heaters, but some can also be fitted with a wood-fired heater. Usually, the smaller cabins and barrels can only fit an electric heater as they require less space and smaller safety distances to anything combustible. For a wood-fired heater, you will need to get around a 4-6-person cabin since they are more spacious, therefore, can accommodate the heater along with the chimney needed for it. If you are interested in a wood-fired cabin, let us know so we can look into the options together!
