• Roof: Slightly sloped to ensure effective water runoff and prevent pooling. Finished with a durable EPDM rubber membrane, complete with metal flashing and sealing components for long-term weatherproofing and structural integrity.
• Walls: Constructed from solid 40mm Thermo-Pine, offering excellent natural insulation and long-term durability. The single-layer design eliminates the need for additional interior or exterior cladding while effectively retaining heat.
• Ceiling: The primary area of heat loss in most saunas. Loyly’s dual-layer Spruce ceiling is insulated with PIR Finnfoam between layers and finished with an asphalt mat on top. This high-efficiency design minimizes heat escape and maximizes thermal retention.
• Benches: Three-tiered L-shaped benches crafted from soft-touch Thermo-Aspen. This wood stays cool to the touch even at high temperatures. The multi-level design places your feet above the heater’s upper stones, maintaining the core “golden rule” of Finnish sauna design for optimal heat immersion and authentic löyly.
• Flooring: Nordic Spruce sealed with Aqua Varnish for enhanced durability and water resistance. The floor is sloped into an integrated stainless steel drainage channel that directs water to the exterior for efficient runoff.

Assembly Time & Tools Required:

The Loyly is a professional-grade sauna kit that requires a skilled construction crew for assembly. Plan for a 3-day build time with a team of at least 3 experienced builders or contractors.

A licensed electrician is required for all heater wiring, lighting, and mechanical ventilation. This is not a simple, DIY assembly.

To ensure your Loyly Original sauna performs at its best for years to come, a few simple maintenance practices go a long way. Here’s what we recommend:

Exterior Maintenance

• Seal the wood: We include a high-quality UV- and moisture-resistant sealer with your kit for the initial application (along with extra for touch-ups ) but it’s important to keep the exterior wood sealed over time. Reapply annually, or as needed based on your local climate, to protect against wood-destroying organisms like mold, mildew, and rot.
• Inspect exterior wood for wear: Periodically check for signs of weathering, cracking, or discoloration, especially on areas exposed to sun and rain.
• Trim vegetation: Maintain clear space around the sauna. Trim any grass, weeds, or plants near the base to avoid direct contact with the wood, which can lead to moisture absorption and fungal growth.
• Check roof flashing and seals: Ensure that the EPDM membrane and metal flashing remain watertight. Reseal joints if needed.
  

Interior Maintenance

• Regular cleaning: Wipe down benches, walls, and floor after use using a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals. Mild soap and warm water are sufficient.
• Seasonal deep clean: A few times per year, scrub the benches and walls with a soft brush and gentle sauna cleaner. Reapply finish to benches and flooring if needed, especially if the wood begins to look dry or absorb water.
• Ventilation check: Keep intake and exhaust vents clear and functioning properly. A quick check every few months helps maintain air quality and even heating.
• Inspect door seals: Ensure the door closes tightly and the seal remains intact for optimal heat retention.

Stove and Stone Care

• Restack stones: Every 6-12 months (or more frequently with heavy use), inspect and restack the sauna stones to maintain airflow around the heating elements and ensure even heat distribution.
• Replace stones: Replace any cracked or crumbling stones to maintain heater efficiency and safety.
• Inspect electrical components: Periodically check heater connections and the UKU control system for signs of wear or corrosion.

General Tips

• Avoid prolonged moisture exposure after sauna sessions: After each session, leave the sauna door open and keep the ventilation fans running while operating the heater for an additional 10–15 minutes. This helps dry out the interior and prevents excess moisture buildup that could lead to mold or wood damage.
• Drainage: Ensure that the floor drain remains clear of debris to allow proper water runoff.
• Check fasteners and structural joints: Once or twice a year, inspect screws and joints for tightness and stability, especially if your area experiences seasonal expansion/contraction in the wood.
