You have your choice of three finishes: natural, thermally-modified (medium), and thermally-modified (intense). The natural finish celebrates Alder’s pale, reddish color and relies on the wood’s natural resistance to heat and steam. The thermally-modified options amplify the Alder’s durability while adding a deeper, darker tone for a bold interior aesthetic.

These boards are available in lengths ranging from 4.9’ - 9.8’ to help you get the perfect fit for your build.

Thermory 1”x4” SHP Alder Bench Wood is sold in 4-piece bundles. We do not sell boards individually.

Wood Types

The Thermory 1.25”x4” SHP Alder Bench Wood is available in three finishes: Natural, ThermoWood (Medium), and ThermoWood (Intense).

  • Natural - A classic pick for traditional sauna builds, Natural Alder brings a light hue with innate water and heat resistance to your sauna interior.
  • ThermoWood (Medium) - The most popular material in sauna construction. ThermoWood is thermally treated to enhance the wood’s natural heat and water resistance. This treatment also adds a dark, stylish hue to the wood.
  • ThermoWood (Intense) - The highest level of thermal modification. ThermoWood (Intense) is exposed to ultra-hot temperatures, creating the best stability and durability available. This exposure also creates a deep, dark tone in the wood for a unique sauna design.

All options offer exceptional longevity and low heat conductivity. Pick the one that best suits the vision you have for your sauna build.
